New Technology for Infusion Molding

For Immediate Release - November 17, 2003

Seattle, WA - We are pleased to announce a unique and innovative new product to aid in the infusion molding process. InfuZene vacuum infusion enabler is designed to hold dry materials onto structural surfaces, ultimately curing with the resins, resulting in one uninterrupted formation. InfuZene crosslinks and hardens along with the ester or styrene to form an integrated structure. This isn't just a new product. This is a whole new process. Currently, spray adhesives are generally used to hold the layers of dry materials together during the curing process of the resins. This method can be problematic and leave air pockets in between materials, weakening the structure as a whole. InfuZene eliminates the possibility of those problems. In recent testing, composites were prepared with InfuZene, grooved core material and fiberglass matting. This composite was then vacuum infused with vinyl ester resin to complete the application. After curing, the composite was tested using ASTM D897-78. There were no weak spots in the composites from the InfuZene. The samples broke in the foam core, the weakest material, as expected.
